I’m back! … and I got news.

(🇬🇧 Scroll down for english till you see butterflies 🩋 âŹ‡ïž)

Botaniquement vĂŽtre,

🇬🇧 ENGLISH NOW 🇬🇧

Hello everyone!

It’s been quite a while, hasn’t it? About 9 years ago, I disappeared from the scene…
I’ve always had back and joint issues, but at that time, I suddenly found myself very disabled with tendonitis everywhere, and I had to: leave my job, get a disability pension, leave Paris, and stop sewing because I was in so much pain and couldn’t do anything anymore. And all of this at the young age of 27
 tough
 as you can imagine

Now I live in Nantes (Ouest part of France, best city ever), and each day is still a challenge… BUT! I’ve finally found my way back to art and crafts!
For several years, since I no longer could make anything with my hands, I redirected my creativity towards plants, which I fell deeply in love with. It’s actually “a little bit” of an indoor-jungle in my home right now. Someone gave me a flower press at Christmas over a year ago, and that’s when a new life began for me! I started collecting any interesting botanicals I could find to press, I experimented and learned techniques, and finally, I practised turning it all into illustration/collage. It’s a creative practice that I can do despite my limitations, little by little, a bit every day, without getting too tired.

And I’m very, very happy about it!

Today, I wanted to share this with you. It was very hard to leave this sewing community where I felt like I belonged and had made such nice friends.

So here I am đŸ™‹â€â™€ïž, connected to social media again, not as a seamstress anymore but as a “collage artist.” Maybe some of you have seen it already, because I kept the same Instagram account but renamed it 👉 @art_n_bloom 👈. If you used to follow me but I no longer appear on your feed, just like and comment on a few posts (or add me to your favorites) and my work should show up again on your screen!
And if you want to follow my new adventures, I invite you to sign up to my 👉 newsletter 👈. You will be informed when I show at venues, I will share my crafting secrets, and hopefully, by the end of the year or early 2025, I will open an online shop.

🎁 Oh and don’t miss it! There will be a Giveaway of one of my artworks this summer! 🎁

It would be great to reconnect with some of you. Feel free to leave a comment here or send me a DM on Instagram!

I hope you are all doing well. 🙏

Botanically yours,

Thank you so much CĂ©line for helping finishing this poor dress who’d been waiting for a nice serger finish for a year now ! And a big thank you to Sewing Lifestyle who provided this nice comfy fabric.

I feel like I’m wearing pajamas, and I’m loving it !

The neckline was sewn according to Lynda Maynard’s teaching in this excellent book : Les Techniques de Finitions Haute-Couture.

× I hope all of you had nice winter holidays and I wish you all a Happy New Year ! ×

Hello again !

tiny_tailoress_flower_dress sewing lifestyle

Me re-voici !

Hello again ! I’m back but only to give you some news, hoping you won’t feel fooled I’m not showing a new project ! You might already know if  you are following me on Intagram, I hurt my two wrists (tendonitis) and have been unable to sew for over two months now … I miss it so much !

But I won’t be stopped so easily ! Instead of sewing I’ve been teaching sewing to my very dear godmother ! (see pics) I aslo watched hours of lessons on craftsy from Suzy Furer who I insanely worship ! I read again all my patternmaking books, waiting to be able to actually patterndraft…. I’m also trying to move on with a dress that was planned for fall in an adorable flower fabric from the new shop Sewing Lifestyle. I just cut a few pieces every two day or so, feels good to a bit, even a teeny tiny bit !

My pretty silk Wenona from Named is still awaing to be finished… but it requires lot of pressing in the process and I’m just not up for it yet !
I hope you’ve enjoyed these few pics anyway and the little news. I miss the sewing community so much I wanted to reconnect a little bit.

And don’t forget you can still follow me on my Facebook page, on Pinterest and on Instagram.

× HAPPY SEWING AND DON’T FORGET TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOU ! ×

Veste pour bĂ©bĂ© adorable

My baby niece wears Isabel Marant ! And she does before I did ! I found those designer’s fabric on a market around Paris, where I’d been shopping with Julie. The grey side is a duffel jersey and the pink fabric is a linen knit. It doesn’t show much on the pics but it’s actually shiny and very drapy, a real beauty !

If I had enough fabric left I would have made the exact same sweater for me !

That pattern comes from the magazine Ottobre, spring 2014. It’s easy to sew, but there’s something I didn’t quite get about the buttons… Anyway I did it my own way and it works perfect ! I used snap fasteners that I covered with scraps from my last kimono pyjamas. I just love the colored graphic touch it gives to this jacket ! Don’t you ?

It’s reversible but I’m showing you only one side, since the linen fabric is thinner and drapyer, it doesn’t look as good on the other side…Ottobre Spring Bird 2014

DSC06718 It’s quite big for now so this sweater might keep her warm for a while.

Pin-up Dress

Wow, it was really time to blog this dress !

Well, I’ve spent a looot of time working on it, so that explains the absence… I’ve had a lot of trouble makaing this dress, but I patterned it all by myself, so I knew it would be quite a challenge. In the end I made a lot of mistakes, I’m not convinced by the skirt, and the waisline is waaay to tight !

Anyway, I got to wear it to a friend’s wedding, and it was the goal !

The inside in structured with a bit of easy to sew boning, and I made the cup with my left-over foam from the MakeBra Kit, I used wire from an old bra ready to by put in the trash. The fabric comes from the Ivory Coast, and the lining in a France Duval-Stall coton.
